Bookshelves

So, after a little over a year of living in our house, I FINALLY decorated the bookshelves in our room. They have been totally empty except for my side, which had books on the bottom shelf. It wasn't decorated at all. I have been wanting to decorate them but didn't really know what to do and it felt a little overwhelming. I finally started getting stuff out of the office closet and bringing it into our bedroom. I just played with Lamar's side and got it done. I did go to Hobby Lobby and buy the Laugh but that was all his side needed. My side, on the other hand, needed some more stuff. Hobby Lobby has the cutest stuff. Fortunately, my parents are getting rid of lots of stuff for the move (that is coming up on the 18th) so I got a lot of old encyclopedias (from the 1800's!) and was able to decorate with them. Anyway, I like looking at my shelves now.

We're going to the lake tomorrow with the Pate's. They got a new lakehouse. Should be fun! I have been putting off painting all day today. I have to put a second coat of paint on our trim in the living room. It's not an easy trim job....our trim has little teeth in the middle. I'm thinking I'd almost rather just leave them wood color than paint them. Anyway, Lamar's in there painting as I write this and I need to go help him. Rosie's coming tomorrow!!!! I am one happy Hadoo!!!
I made this little picture on Picnic...what a fun little program!

Fast and Easy Rolo Brownie Bites

Happy Happy Friday, y'all! Some of y'all might know that back in the day I had a baking blog. And, by back in the day, I mean I started it in 2009 and my last post was in 2011. I probably should update it and keep adding to it, but I just don't bake or cook as much anymore now that our nest is empty. But, I did have so much fun with that blog. I would just bake or cook as usual but along the way I would take pictures and blog about the recipes. I still go back to that site and get recipes. I send my kids and friends there when they are wanting a certain recipe, too. It's so easy to just send them a link. I'm all about fast and easy recipes! One of my favorite super easy "go to" recipes are these super yummy and easy brownie bites. I first blogged about these in 2009 here but thought I would add the yummy recipe to this blog, too.  Ingredients: Brownie Mix (I use the Duncan Hines 13x9 family size). Rolo's (they now have them unwrapped) WOOHO...

Show us where you live Friday.....the Kitchen

Most of you probably read Kelly's blog . She is so much fun! Well, she is hosting a "Show us where you Live Friday" and this week is the kitchen edition. I am excited about this because I absolutely LOVE looking at houses and decor....it's so much fun and can really show someones personality. I just love to see how others express themselves through decorating. While I really do love my kitchen, it is the room I am looking forward to redoing the very most. My future plans are to take down the wallpaper and paint, paint the ceiling, redo the cabinets (probably really dark wood), paint the island black, take down the florescent light fixture above the island and replace with something a little more up to date, and replace the curtains. I think the previous owners did a great job decorating it but I would rather it be more my personality. I spend A LOT of time in my kitchen and I really enjoy it!! When my mom and dad moved, they gave me their big round table that seats...

Christmas Decorations

I am so behind on my blog, once again. I have so much to write about......Thanksgiving, the Turkey Trot, the Granny Walk, Marcifest, the LSU/HOG game, etc.  It was all wonderful! I don't want to leave all of that out.  I'll go back and catch up or at least I think I will.  One thing I learned way back in the day when I was scrapbooking was that if I got behind to just start where I was instead of backtracking. Otherwise, it was just too overwhelming. So, I'm starting with right now and right now, I'm decorating for Christmas.  I LOVE Christmas...the music, the atmosphere, and most especially, the celebration of Christ's birth. I got a pretty swag for my door and wanted garland to match. I have a wonderful friend, Hope, who is an incredibly talented decorator and she volunteered to make the garland for me.  We went shopping together and she knew exactly what to buy and came to my house and put it all together.  She did a great job! I love my door!!...
