My chick is leaving the nest

Today has been a GORGEOUS day!!! It has been sunny and breezy....perfect weather. We drove in the convertible and just took in the beautiful weather. We've been busy, busy, busy! Macy leaves tomorrow for Ouachita. I am sad she won't be here all the time but at the same time, I am so excited for her because I know she is going to love it and she's only an hour away....anytime she wants to come home or I want to go there, we'll just hop in the car and go. I asked Macy what she wanted me to cook for her last meal at home (for awhile anyway) and she chose poppyseed chicken (of course) and hashbrown casserole. You can't go wrong with lots of butter, cream of chicken soup, and sour cream!!! :)

Here we are...Mar cut up the chicken for the poppyseed while I made the hasbrown casserole. I have discovered in the last couple of years that cooking is not near as bad when you do it with someone you love. When Mar and I cook, it's almost always together.
And for dessert....the best cheesecake in the WORLD....Jello No Bake Cheesecake. Seriously, it doesn't get any better than this for cheesecake! I LOVE this stuff!!! Macy does, too! Macy is not a chocolate girl, which I still can't wrap my brain around....after all, she is MY daughter.

Our meal.....YUM!!! See those Sister Schubert rolls with loads of butter. Delicious!

I wanted to use our nice plates (instead of paper, like usual) and didn't realize until this picture that I forgot to use our glass cups. Macy has a Franke's cup...HA! :) Oh well, we all enjoyed our meal and ate it way too fast! Cooking literally wears me out more than a whole hour of zumba. I know that sounds bad but it's so true. I don't know if it just mentally wears me out or what but I'm always exhausted after cooking. Speaking of exercise, Mar and I went walking last night and got to see the most amazing sunset...it was deep pink and purple...just gorgeous!!!!
It's so hard to believe Macy is leaving tomorrow. I wonder when she'll come home again. She thinks it will be at least 2 weeks but I'm not so sure. We'll see. We're getting up bright and early in the morning, packing the car, and heading to her dorm to get all her stuff moved in. We lucked out because Macy is on the 1st floor and the 1st room after you walk in!!! How's that for a happy move in day?! :) Also, Macy's cousin and my niece, Abby, will be there. She is a junior at Ouachita and is helping all the freshmen move in tomorrow. She was also there with Macy when Macy was new to PA and made Macy feel so welcome then, too. I am so thankful for my family.
One more thing...I am co-leading our Bible study at Fellowship this year. I've never led or co-led a Bible study of adult women so it will be a good learning experience for me. I did lead a small group last year of 11th grade girls...that was lots of fun. Anyway, we're doing Beth Moore's Esther!!!! I absolutely love Beth Moore so I'm so excited!!!

Happy weekend!! :)

Heather, its been amazing for me to watch Macy grow up here in blog world! You are blest to have a daughter who loves the Lord and wants to serve Him. Best wishes on the transition! Take a big box of kleenex and have some M/M's on the drive home!
I did the Esther study this summer, and you will be blessed by it. Remeber " Its tough being a woman" Becky

Fast and Easy Rolo Brownie Bites

Happy Happy Friday, y'all! Some of y'all might know that back in the day I had a baking blog. And, by back in the day, I mean I started it in 2009 and my last post was in 2011. I probably should update it and keep adding to it, but I just don't bake or cook as much anymore now that our nest is empty. But, I did have so much fun with that blog. I would just bake or cook as usual but along the way I would take pictures and blog about the recipes. I still go back to that site and get recipes. I send my kids and friends there when they are wanting a certain recipe, too. It's so easy to just send them a link. I'm all about fast and easy recipes! One of my favorite super easy "go to" recipes are these super yummy and easy brownie bites. I first blogged about these in 2009 here but thought I would add the yummy recipe to this blog, too.  Ingredients: Brownie Mix (I use the Duncan Hines 13x9 family size). Rolo's (they now have them unwrapped) WOOHO...

Bye Bye 80's kitchen!!

Well, my kitchen is mostly finished!! It's completely painted!! I am so excited to have a brighter updated kitchen.  It just feels completely different.  I'm not completely finished but here's what I've got for now.   The cabinet color is Benjamin Moore Linen White and the walls are Benjamin Moore clay beige. I'm so glad to see the florescent oak square light gone!! I replaced it with chandeliers I got at a flea market!! :) We also hired an electrician to put more canned lighting in because after the florescent square was gone, we needed more lighting. I painted 48 cabinets and drawers and the body of the cabinets (don't know what the official name for that is) and was so burned out by the time I finished the island that my sweet husband suggested we hire a painter to paint the rest for me! I am SOOOO glad he did!!!!  See the faith, truth, love window frame beside the pantry door? Well, my super talented sister-in-law, Sabrin...
Mar and I didn't go to church this morning. :( We hate to miss. We woke up about 8:30, talked a little bit, prayed a little bit and then the next thing we know, it's 10:30!!! We must have really needed the sleep. We leave for church at 10:40 so there was no way we were going to make it. It felt wonderful to sleep in, though. We can alway watch the service on the Internet. After Rosie got home from church, we went and picked her up and took her to Wendy's to eat (we all really wanted Franke's but it was packed...at 1:45!) and then we headed to Party City where I got plates for Bunco (it's at my house on Thursday) and then we went to Garden Ridge and got a fake plant and a chair (for $99). The chair we were going to get was WAY more than that and a lot prettier but the one at Garden Ridge did the job fine and with no guilt for spending too much money on a beautiful chair. It is SO MUCH FUN to shop with Rosie...SO MUCH FUN!!! I hate to shop without her because she make...
