This and That Picture Post

I made Pioneer Women's Red Velvet Cake last week and it was TO DIE FOR!! It's by far my favorite red velvet cake recipe. The icing is SO good!!! Here Rosy and Hannah are enjoying a piece. :)
Two of my very favorite friends, Cal and Tam! LOVE these two! We try to eat lunch together on a regular basis. We see each her A LOT in the summer because we are pool buddies! We're all looking so forward to the pool again. We bring the kids and just talk. It's great girl time!
Sabrina made me this great painting!! I love it! The house is made up of sheet music that belonged to my great grandmother. :) That makes it even more special! I'm at my brother's MedSpa in this picture, by the way.
Love it!
Last Friday, Miriam and Aunt Helen came to visit. Aunt Helen had her teeth worked on. It was a gorgeous day so we went to Panera Bread for lunch and ate outside. For dinner, we went to Capers. It was delicious! I got bacon wrapped shrimp. It was YUMMY!!!
Macy and her 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Craig.  Macy's first grade year was a really hard year.  That was the year that me and her dad were going through a divorce.  Mrs. Craig was there and loved on her every single day. Now, Macy wants to be a teacher like Mrs. Craig. :) We saw Linda at a shower that was at my sister's house for a friend, Allyson.
At Allyson's shower.  This was Rosy's birthday, too! :) We had her birthday party the week before but it was still her "real" birthday so it was fun to see her on her special day!
Rosy wanted to go to Chick-fil-a and Maggie Moo's for her birthday dinner.  We (Mom, Dad, Mar, and me) met Hannah and Rosy up there and gave Rosy a few little presents.
Next stop: Maggie Moo's! :) Hannah and Rosy.  Hannah is such a good mom. Rosy adores her!! :)

Oh my goodness! She is just SO cute!!! Can you tell that I love her?!
Mar loves her, too!!
Rosy always gets Strawberry ice cream with M&M's and sprinkles. I always get Chocolate Better Batter with caramel and marshmallow cream. :) I ended up getting Red Velvet this day, which was absolutely delicious! :)
When I saw Rosebud on Sunday, we matched! She had on a little white sweater, too, that she took off. It was fun to match with her! She LOVES pink and purple! :)
On Sunday night, we had a girl's night with some of my NLR friends.  I LOVE these girls! We have been in a Bible study for years now and they are just the best! We went to El Chico and then to see a dollar movie. It was a very interesting experience! We were supposed to go see Letters to God but it wasn't playing in LR anymore so we just decided to go see another Christian movie that was playing at the dollar theatre.  Well, first of all, when we walked into the dollar theatre, there was porn to our left.  It was so weird! Then, we went to go pay for our tickets. They would only take cash and it wasn't $1, it was $8.  They also sold beer and other alcoholic drinks there, which was really weird.  There were weird paintings all over the walls. It was just weird! Then, we heard that they play porn movies in there!! UGH!! I was scared to touch anything!! It also smelled bad in there.  It was just downright skanky!!!
Belinda and I a little freaked out! You should have seen the weird previews before the movie.  We couldn't all sit together because there were only 4 seats to an aisle. When the movie started, we couldn't quit laughing at our whole experience.  I thought the movie was sweet but WAY too slow.  It could have been summed up in 30 minutes.  I never remember who I see movies with because I'm always watching the movie and it's not really a relational thing, so I forget. Well, let me tell you now, I will NEVER forget who I saw this movie with!! HA! :)
One of my best friends in the whole world (Heather...standing next to me a couple of pictures above in the blue) is making me a memory book! I am SO excited about it! It will truly be the best present I've ever received. Heather and I have been friends since junior high and have so many memories together...mostly hilarious! Heather sent me a sneak preview of one of the pictures she drew! I LOVE IT!! I think the picture above the fireplace looks just like me and Mar!! HAAA!! :)
I love, love, love Red Velvet Cake. I made it twice last week.....once with food coloring and once without. I brought the cake to LG on Monday and not many people tried it, which surprised me. I think it was the red color they couldn't past.  I told them it was just chocolate cake with food coloring. After that, one of my friends tried it. Anyway, my sister, Hannah, loves the cake but doesn't like the color, so I made another one minus the food coloring.  I brought it to our girl's night out the other night and everyone had a piece because it was chocolate colored! :) It's weird how colors can fool you...I didn't feel like I was eating red velvet cake. I think I need to make Purple Velvet Cake for Rosy. :)
I went walking one day and saw that this lot was for sale with my favorite view ever! Isn't this pretty? I would love to have this view everyday. Of course, I do get this almost everyday because this is real close to my house now and I walk around the neighborhood and get this view. We're putting our house up for sale to downsize and if we don't find a house once our house is sold, we're probably going to buy this lot and build.  This is the day I got exposed to poison ivy. It was all over the lot and I walked right in oblivous. :s
Speaking of poison ivy! This is my life lately! I have taken and tried everthing. Right now, I am taking 2 cortisone shots a day and my legs (where I first got it) are finally drying up. The problem is that I keep getting new spots.  I woke up this morning (2 weeks later) to a new spot on my neck! I am so scared it's going to spread to my face. I do not want poison ivy on my face and I definitely don't want scars from it but the truth is, it is out of my control.  I have done everything. I have washed everything. Yesterday, I spent 2 hours alcoholing and bleaching the bathroom down. I actually mopped the floor with alcohol.  You see, we also have poison ivy in our yard (front and back) and Charlie Bear can walk right in it and bring it in.  Lamar has sprayed stuff to kill it but he has to keep going back out there and spraying. I just keep getting exposed and getting new spots. It seems impossible to go through the house and imagine everything Charlie Bear could have touched with his tail and feet. I just feel like there is poison ivy sap all over the house.  I cannot wait to get off the cortisone, too. I am also taking Atarax for the itching and to help me sleep. I am tired (from Atarax) but can't sleep and shaky (from cortisone).  Oh well, surely this too shall pass! The good news is that I have my last treatment today at the doctor for my IC and I'm better!! I can even eat regular foods again, including tomatoes (one of the worst offenders).   I'm truly thankful for that!! Now, to just get rid of the poison ivy that is attacking me.  One thing that I have learned after trying everything, ICE PACKS help the itch!! I have a severe case so that has been the only thing that has worked. I was actually able to sleep 5 hours last night because of the ice pack. :) Gotta go...just noticed the time!!! More later!

Rosy is getting so big and is super pretty! Wish we could have made it to the party, but Tatumn got the stomach virus that day. I don't think Rosy would have wanted that for a birthday present! haha!

Fast and Easy Rolo Brownie Bites

Happy Happy Friday, y'all! Some of y'all might know that back in the day I had a baking blog. And, by back in the day, I mean I started it in 2009 and my last post was in 2011. I probably should update it and keep adding to it, but I just don't bake or cook as much anymore now that our nest is empty. But, I did have so much fun with that blog. I would just bake or cook as usual but along the way I would take pictures and blog about the recipes. I still go back to that site and get recipes. I send my kids and friends there when they are wanting a certain recipe, too. It's so easy to just send them a link. I'm all about fast and easy recipes! One of my favorite super easy "go to" recipes are these super yummy and easy brownie bites. I first blogged about these in 2009 here but thought I would add the yummy recipe to this blog, too.  Ingredients: Brownie Mix (I use the Duncan Hines 13x9 family size). Rolo's (they now have them unwrapped) WOOHO...

Show us where you live Friday.....the Kitchen

Most of you probably read Kelly's blog . She is so much fun! Well, she is hosting a "Show us where you Live Friday" and this week is the kitchen edition. I am excited about this because I absolutely LOVE looking at houses and decor....it's so much fun and can really show someones personality. I just love to see how others express themselves through decorating. While I really do love my kitchen, it is the room I am looking forward to redoing the very most. My future plans are to take down the wallpaper and paint, paint the ceiling, redo the cabinets (probably really dark wood), paint the island black, take down the florescent light fixture above the island and replace with something a little more up to date, and replace the curtains. I think the previous owners did a great job decorating it but I would rather it be more my personality. I spend A LOT of time in my kitchen and I really enjoy it!! When my mom and dad moved, they gave me their big round table that seats...
Mar and I didn't go to church this morning. :( We hate to miss. We woke up about 8:30, talked a little bit, prayed a little bit and then the next thing we know, it's 10:30!!! We must have really needed the sleep. We leave for church at 10:40 so there was no way we were going to make it. It felt wonderful to sleep in, though. We can alway watch the service on the Internet. After Rosie got home from church, we went and picked her up and took her to Wendy's to eat (we all really wanted Franke's but it was packed...at 1:45!) and then we headed to Party City where I got plates for Bunco (it's at my house on Thursday) and then we went to Garden Ridge and got a fake plant and a chair (for $99). The chair we were going to get was WAY more than that and a lot prettier but the one at Garden Ridge did the job fine and with no guilt for spending too much money on a beautiful chair. It is SO MUCH FUN to shop with Rosie...SO MUCH FUN!!! I hate to shop without her because she make...
