Show Us Where You Live Friday (Guest Room)

Okay, so I was not going to show my guest room because it is SO bare!! Literally, there is nothing at all on the walls, as you can see. Matter of fact, there is nothing on the walls on any of my upstairs rooms, except the bonus room and that's pretty bare, too. I am just not upstairs much so out of site, out of mind, I guess. Anyway, this house has had a lot to update and I haven't done much but this room was the first room we did something with. There was early 90's Waverly wallpaper all over the wall and while I would have LOVED this room when Macy was 2, it's just not my taste anymore. We painted over the wallpaper and while it would have been better to take down the wallpaper, we just wanted quick and easy and it did the job! We sprayed that orange peel spray over the walls to try to hide the wallpaper seams and border that may have shown through......didn't work but that's okay...nobody really notices unless I point it out. :) The chest-o-drawers were in M...

Show us where you live Friday (except it's Monday) .... living rooms.

I know I am SO late on this but I decided I'd still do it anyway. I have had no time this weekend to get on the computer. It was such a busy weekend but lots of fun!!! Anyway, here's my living room. Probably this summer, we're going to replace the gray carpet with wood. CAN'T WAIT for that...mainly because I have a 108 pound golden retriever who gets mud all over the carpet every time he gets wet, which lately has been a lot with this rain. He has a big shed outside that we got for him with a little couch in it and everything but he'd rather be in the rain by the back door than in his shed. We always let him in when it's raining but sometimes we're gone and he's outside when it rains. If we know it's going to rain, we leave him inside. Anyway, looking so forward to having cleaner floors!!! :) Looking at the living room from the kitchen. I have a rug that I have used in my living rooms when we lived in Louisiana that I cannot wait to put down once we ...

A mama's gotta brag a little :)

This has been such a busy week. This is just a busy time...LOTS of senior stuff! Tomorrow is Macy's last "real" day of school (she has finals next week) and is senior signing day. On Sunday our church had a senior dessert for the seniors. Collages were made of each senior and there was a slideshow. They gave a scholarship to the senior who really stood out as making a difference as a Christian. At the end, the parents prayed with their senior. It was really a special time. When they were announcing the senior who got a scholarship, I thought it may be Macy because they were describing her. When they said the person was a "he" and went to Little Rock Christian, I knew it wasn't her. I was a little disappointed (although I was happy for the boy who got it) because I would LOVE for Macy to be recognized for all the things she has done that have stood out but at the same time I was OVERJOYED that my daughter would even qualify for that award. I know I sure would...

Show us where you live Friday.....the Kitchen

Most of you probably read Kelly's blog . She is so much fun! Well, she is hosting a "Show us where you Live Friday" and this week is the kitchen edition. I am excited about this because I absolutely LOVE looking at houses and decor....it's so much fun and can really show someones personality. I just love to see how others express themselves through decorating. While I really do love my kitchen, it is the room I am looking forward to redoing the very most. My future plans are to take down the wallpaper and paint, paint the ceiling, redo the cabinets (probably really dark wood), paint the island black, take down the florescent light fixture above the island and replace with something a little more up to date, and replace the curtains. I think the previous owners did a great job decorating it but I would rather it be more my personality. I spend A LOT of time in my kitchen and I really enjoy it!! When my mom and dad moved, they gave me their big round table that seats...

Compassion International

Wow, I just read the LPM and Bring the Rain blog and have been crying ever since. How could I NOT sponsor a child through Compassion International after reading those blogs?! The child I am sponsoring is a 3 year old little girl named Shirel and she is just precious. I can't help but think of Rosie when I look at her. I am so thankful that Macy is getting to go to Africa for 3 weeks in June and going to get to experience helping orphans. I know it will be life changing. One thing that I have noticed when I hear stories or see pictures from people who have been on mission trips is that those people have so little but are still joyful. It's almost like we have it worse in the United States because we do have so much. I complain because I have gray outdated carpet in my living room when I want wood floors yet there is a family of 5 who live in a "house" smaller than a twin bed. I live in a house with 2 other people with more room than I know what to do with. I...
