Blogging twice in one day...now that's a first in a LONG time!! I'm up late and WIDE awake. Mar was off today and we slept late...it was pure heaven!!! :) It feels like it's about 9:00 pm. Mar on the other hand, is fast asleep on the couch behind me. :) He always calls me his little night owl.

So, I got a smile makeover on Monday and Tuesday. I had 4 veneers on my top teeth for the last 10 years and liked them a lot but at the time the whitest shade they had was A1 which was not very white. Mar's been wanting to redo my teeth for awhile but I was just dreading the whole process. Over the years, Mar's done most of my family member's teeth and they all look great!!! In all our pictures together, here are all these gorgeous white smiles next to my yellow smile. I finally gave in on a whim last week after seeing my niece, Abby's, gorgeous new smile. Well, I am looking at this picture of me and am like, "WHOA! My teeth look WHITE..maybe a little too white". I'm thinking it's the picture and my lipstick, though, because I don't think they look too white in person. Matter of fact, nobody in my family has even noticed so I think that's a good sign. :) I do have to say that I feel like I've been recovering from surgery this week. I know that sounds dramatic but for some reason the shot (which didn't hurt at all when he was giving it...his shots never hurt.....he's known for it) swelled up my left side and my cheek has been so sore. Also, I have always gotten ulcers from dental shots so I have to sleep with prescription Kenalog on all the places where I get shots so I wake up with a mouth full of sandy grit. :) It's not been fun but today I feel like me again!! YAY! My cheek is still sore but my teeth feel normal now. I had all my upper and lower teeth done. No more "picniking" my teeth! HA! :) I didn't do that much anyway but when I did, I was always shocked at the difference between my yellow teeth and the new "picniked" white teeth.

Recently, I was given a little monetary gift from a family member...so kind, special, and sweet. Anyway, it wasn't a ton or anything but a little bit and I had been trying to decide what to do with it. I wanted to do something special with it. My sister is taking her husband to the beach and I must say that after our recent Colorado trip, I was VERY tempted to go to Colorado again!! I am STILL thinking about that trip every single day and wishing I was there looking at that incredibly gorgeous view. Anyway, at first I was going to invest it but then one morning I woke up and immediately knew what I was going to do with it.....get new wood floors for our living room! :) I decided it was a good investment because we'll get that money back when (IF) we sell our house one day. Right now, we have gray carpet and it just stands out to me every time I look at it. The first thing I said when we bought our house almost 3 years ago was, "First thing we need to do is replace this gray carpet". Well, it turns out replacing carpet with wood floors is REALLY expensive so we haven't done it. I'd like to replace all the gray carpet in the house but that's just too expensive, so for now, we're just going to do the living room. My dilemma right now is trying to decide whether to buy the floors online or in a store. Look at the price at the wood floor above??!!! What in the world? Okay, first of all, the wood floors we have to get (to match the other wood floors in the kitchen and dining room) is not even the easy kind to install...it's the nail kind and it's not my favorite color, either, so I'm really wondering why it's SO expensive!! The beautiful colored wood floors that is easy to install is half this price. I don't understand BUT online this exact same flooring is $3.25. It's so much cheaper!! However, I'm a little nervous about ordering online especially after reading reviews. It just worries me a little bit. I just don't know what to do. I think Mar and I are going to install them to save a little money. We'll see. If I order them online, I can hire someone to install them.

I love Valentine's Day. We had Molly's bridesmaid's luncheon at my house last Friday so I got to put up all the "love" early. :)

Okay, I am having a serious problem....see lower right hand corner of picture above. See that heart bowl...well, there are M&M's in there and I KNOW BETTER than to put them in that bowl (and, even worse, by my computer) but I can't seem to stop buying them and eating them!! I got so excited the other day when I finally finished them off because the temptation was gone. Well, what do I do when I go to Target tonight? Buy those M&M's...they are just so cute in those pink, hot pink, and red colors (the packaging is even cute)...they make it harder to resist. M&M's just make me happy. I like to eat the candy off of them and then suck on the chocolate. I have got to stop, though. After I finish writing this, I am moving the candy dish to the pantry where all the other candy is...for some reason I don't eat the candy in the pantry....I guess it's because it's behind a closed door. I don't know. Anyway, I am mad at myself. Not to mention the fact that we went to a Japanese steakhouse tonight. UGH!! I did bring home half my meal, though, to enjoy and savor tomorrow. :) The calories I didn't eat at the restaurant, I made up for in M&M's tonight, though. :s

See that brass fireplace thing that frames the doors to the fireplace in the picture above? I have no idea what it's called but the brass has bothered me for a long time now. I've wanted to update it but didn't really know how to go about it. I saw on a blog one day that you can actually spray paint brass. That gave me hope for my fireplace. I even bought some spray paint but Mar didn't know how to get the door off so I tried to spray it while it was on and realized that wouldn't work so I just left it alone. It's been real noticeable to me this week because all our furniture has been moved out of our living room (we had tables brought in for Molly's shower). I decided today that where there's a will there's a way. I googled fireplaces and how to remove a door. I printed off the directions to give to Mar and found my spray paint. I was ready to go!! :) Mar got the door off and then said, "You have to come see our fireplace!". So, I go in there and this is what I see:

That beautiful brick was being covered by that shining brass!!! I love it!! We decided to just leave the door off and buy a fireplace cover. BYE BYE ugly brass!!! I love that brick and didn't even have to spray paint!! YAY!! Now, once that gray carpet is gone, our living room will be updated!! WOO-HOO!!!

By the way, here's the living room before we bought the house. It's not ugly by any means but I felt like it needed an update and it wasn't really my style. We removed the transom's (sp?) and the french doors (we had to remove them to remove the transom's), removed the ceiling fan and replaced with a light, painted the walls, trim, and mantle, and now we've removed the brass from the fireplace and are about to replace the gray carpet. :)

Well, it's LATE!! Wow!!! How is it that I'm still not tired? I promised Mar we'd read together tonight, too.....uh-oh.
Just a side note...whenever I do spellcheck on here, my signature disappears...wonder why. Oh well. Night everybody! More later! :)

UPDATE: Saturday night: I am so excited!! I got my wood floors today for $3.99 a square foot! The owner said those floors haven't been that price in 10 years! The neat thing is that last night Lamar said we needed to pray about the floors and that we would find a deal here in town, so we prayed about it and look what God did! :) He's just waiting on us to ask! I love "winks" from God! :) We got everything we needed and I had money left over!!! WOO-HOO!! Thank you, Lord!

Fast and Easy Rolo Brownie Bites

Happy Happy Friday, y'all! Some of y'all might know that back in the day I had a baking blog. And, by back in the day, I mean I started it in 2009 and my last post was in 2011. I probably should update it and keep adding to it, but I just don't bake or cook as much anymore now that our nest is empty. But, I did have so much fun with that blog. I would just bake or cook as usual but along the way I would take pictures and blog about the recipes. I still go back to that site and get recipes. I send my kids and friends there when they are wanting a certain recipe, too. It's so easy to just send them a link. I'm all about fast and easy recipes! One of my favorite super easy "go to" recipes are these super yummy and easy brownie bites. I first blogged about these in 2009 here but thought I would add the yummy recipe to this blog, too.  Ingredients: Brownie Mix (I use the Duncan Hines 13x9 family size). Rolo's (they now have them unwrapped) WOOHO...

Show us where you live Friday.....the Kitchen

Most of you probably read Kelly's blog . She is so much fun! Well, she is hosting a "Show us where you Live Friday" and this week is the kitchen edition. I am excited about this because I absolutely LOVE looking at houses and decor....it's so much fun and can really show someones personality. I just love to see how others express themselves through decorating. While I really do love my kitchen, it is the room I am looking forward to redoing the very most. My future plans are to take down the wallpaper and paint, paint the ceiling, redo the cabinets (probably really dark wood), paint the island black, take down the florescent light fixture above the island and replace with something a little more up to date, and replace the curtains. I think the previous owners did a great job decorating it but I would rather it be more my personality. I spend A LOT of time in my kitchen and I really enjoy it!! When my mom and dad moved, they gave me their big round table that seats...

Christmas Decorations

I am so behind on my blog, once again. I have so much to write about......Thanksgiving, the Turkey Trot, the Granny Walk, Marcifest, the LSU/HOG game, etc.  It was all wonderful! I don't want to leave all of that out.  I'll go back and catch up or at least I think I will.  One thing I learned way back in the day when I was scrapbooking was that if I got behind to just start where I was instead of backtracking. Otherwise, it was just too overwhelming. So, I'm starting with right now and right now, I'm decorating for Christmas.  I LOVE Christmas...the music, the atmosphere, and most especially, the celebration of Christ's birth. I got a pretty swag for my door and wanted garland to match. I have a wonderful friend, Hope, who is an incredibly talented decorator and she volunteered to make the garland for me.  We went shopping together and she knew exactly what to buy and came to my house and put it all together.  She did a great job! I love my door!!...
