Show Us Your Life....Diets, Exercise Programs, Weight Loss Ideas.

My family loves to exercise together. My sister, Marci, is a Jazzercise instructor so when she's in town, we do Jazzercise in Mom's kitchen or garage. :) Here we are after we all met and did Zumba together. It's so much more fun when you exercise with family or friends. :)

I am NO expert and don't claim to be but these are the things that have worked for me.

*Try not to obsess on losing weight.....the more you think about it, the more you're going to eat. We learned about this in one of my psychology classes and really, it's true (at least it has been for me). I used to not think about losing weight ever (matter of fact, I thought about gaining weight) and that was when I didn't eat near as much. I just wasn't focused on food.

*Exercise regularly but don't go overboard....you'll get burned out. I exercise probably 4 times a week...sometimes 5 (on a good week). I have friends who exercise 2 and 3 times a day, though...that to me is OVERKILL!!!

*One thing that helped me was livestrong.com (also an iPhone app)....writing down everything I ate. It was kind of a fun challenge. I would purposely try to eat less in the day where I would have more calories to eat at night, when I'm more tempted. I KNOW, I KNOW...you're not supposed to eat at night but I do because that's when I like to eat...I don't like to eat in the morning at all so I save my calories. Even though I've been lectured about it many times by many people, it works for me and I haven't gained weight.

*Eat small amounts throughout the day. For me, I never ever eat my whole meal. I just can't. I would explode. I probably eat something small every 3 hours, though, so when it comes time for a "real" meal, I never eat the whole thing.

*Find an exercise that you love. I found zumba a year and a half ago and LOVE it!! It's just super fun and burns a ton of calories. I do have to add that it also quadrupled my appetite and I lost absolutely NO weight but I did gain muscle and am now in good shape, so I can't complain (even though I do sometimes). I also walk a lot.

*Don't deprive yourself. If you want a piece of dessert...go for it!!! Just don't overdo and don't do it for every meal. :)

*Exercise with a friend...you are much more likely to stick with it. When I walk, I ALWAYS walk with a friend. For one, I'm a scaredy cat and am scared to walk alone and for two, the walk goes by SO MUCH FASTER because everything goes by faster when you're with a friend. :)

*Remember that God loves you just the way you are! He made you! Your body is a temple and you are supposed to treat it well but at the same time, don't expect your body to be perfect. I have to face the fact that I'll never have a long torso and be tall...that's just the way God made me. I have to accept it and be THANKFUL for what He gave me even though I'm not perfect...one day we'll be perfect in heaven and that's something to look forward to.

Well, that's all I seem to have off the top of my head. I always say that I wish the more chocolate you ate and the less you exercised, the thinner you'd get! HA! :)

Happy Friday everybody!!! The weekend is here!! WOO-HOO!!!

Fast and Easy Rolo Brownie Bites

Happy Happy Friday, y'all! Some of y'all might know that back in the day I had a baking blog. And, by back in the day, I mean I started it in 2009 and my last post was in 2011. I probably should update it and keep adding to it, but I just don't bake or cook as much anymore now that our nest is empty. But, I did have so much fun with that blog. I would just bake or cook as usual but along the way I would take pictures and blog about the recipes. I still go back to that site and get recipes. I send my kids and friends there when they are wanting a certain recipe, too. It's so easy to just send them a link. I'm all about fast and easy recipes! One of my favorite super easy "go to" recipes are these super yummy and easy brownie bites. I first blogged about these in 2009 here but thought I would add the yummy recipe to this blog, too.  Ingredients: Brownie Mix (I use the Duncan Hines 13x9 family size). Rolo's (they now have them unwrapped) WOOHO...

Show us where you live Friday.....the Kitchen

Most of you probably read Kelly's blog . She is so much fun! Well, she is hosting a "Show us where you Live Friday" and this week is the kitchen edition. I am excited about this because I absolutely LOVE looking at houses and decor....it's so much fun and can really show someones personality. I just love to see how others express themselves through decorating. While I really do love my kitchen, it is the room I am looking forward to redoing the very most. My future plans are to take down the wallpaper and paint, paint the ceiling, redo the cabinets (probably really dark wood), paint the island black, take down the florescent light fixture above the island and replace with something a little more up to date, and replace the curtains. I think the previous owners did a great job decorating it but I would rather it be more my personality. I spend A LOT of time in my kitchen and I really enjoy it!! When my mom and dad moved, they gave me their big round table that seats...

Nashville Trip

Once again, it has been SO long since I have done a blog post. I think with Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and all the other social media, I get overwhelmed. I haven't posted a Facebook album in so long, though, so I really wanted to start blogging again to be able to remember! This might be my last post for 2 years again, though! LOL! We will see. We took a business trip last weekend to Nashville (first time to ever go to Nashville) and it was so fun because on this business trip, Macy and Kevin got to come with us! I haven't written on here yet about it, but Kevin is now working for the same company Lamar works for and we are just THRILLED about it!!!  Our weekend trip actually started on a Thursday. The morning started with my first visit to the ER ever but more about that in another post. I was okay and am so so thankful for my precious dad who took me there and we got to bypass the waiting room. I have continued to be blessed by my Dad and his love for the Lord and oth...
