Breckenridge Day Three

Well, last night, we woke up at 1:00 am and 3:00 am again.  The first time Lamar was hot and the second time he was cold.  When he woke up the second time, I was drenched in sweat and felt nauseous. I don't really know why but felt better after about 15 mins. I think the dexamethasone shot was given in my blood stream last night because right after I got it, I started feeling really shaky and weird and started sweating a lot.  Lamar made sure to give it to me in the muscle this morning and I was fine.  After we woke up this morning, we watched our church service online.  It was a good sermon on the tabernacle which sounds boring but really wasn't. Right after that, I came in the kitchen to make me lunch and I listened to Joyce Meyer while eating and she talked about the same thing about the tabernacle.  It was really cool!!!
In our living room in our condo about ready to hit the slopes.
It was unseasonably warm today.  The high was 42 but the wind chill was a lot lower so we still dressed warm. It was a beautiful day!!!
Nothing about toady went as planned.  I guess it started with me falling right when we walked out of our condo to head to our ski slope.  I stepped into a huge hole of snow that was about 3 feet deep!! My third fall of our trip. It was actually pretty funny and didn't hurt. My right leg is all the way down in the snow. Right after this, I put my skis on and realized that I forgot to put my padding on my right boot.  It was way too tight on my chin and was bruising my chin so I had to run back to the room real quick to pad my boot.
We took the same lift as yesterday and decided to go a different way down where we could see the base of the mountain. I wanted to see what it looked like. I loved Winter Park's base with all the cute shops and fun eating places.  So, we headed a different way.
I loved the run we were on. It was real easy and I was able to practice.  It was so warm that I had to unzip my jacket and took my gloves off (I took my hat off when I went back to the room to pad my boot).  My hands were warm the whole time.
Pretty bridge to ski over. There's a road underneath this. I think it would be neat to be driving down the road and look above me at a bridge with skiers skiing by. :) Right at the end of this run, there was a sign that said, "Take skis off...to parking lot".  So we took our skis off, walked a little bit, and ended up in a parking lot.   We definitely weren't expecting the end of our ski run to end up in a parking lot.
But, it was really pretty.
Mar trying to figure out how to get back on the mountain by only taking green slopes.  We couldn't take the lift that was there because it only had blues and blacks so we ended up having to take a shuttle and decided that we might as well try out a different peak.  We were skiing on peak 8 and decided to go to peak 9.
Gorgeous day! Waiting on the shuttle.
I loved this sign. Last year I wore a helmet the whole time but this year I'm not because it's too small.  I probably should be wearing it anyway.
So, we ended up taking the shuttle and went to Peak 9 and I loved the run we took...REALLY easy and I need to be able to practice on the easy runs. I just feel more confident if I can work on my skiing on the flatter slopes.  By the time we took the shuttle and went down one run, it was time to take another shuttle back to our Snowflake lift.  We ended up only doing 2 short runs all day. :s We spent most of our time waiting for shuttles or on shuttles.  Well, you live and learn and we now know what not to do.  We decided we will ski again on Tuesday and take the shuttle just outside our condo to Peak 9 and spend the day on those slopes. Poor Mar, he didn't want to have to walk up our hill again but we had to.  It was good exercise again, though.  This picture of him so tired from having to walk up our steep hill.
About to trek up more of the hill.
So then we came home and got in the hot tub again and Lamar almost passed out when he got out.  We rested for a few minutes and then decided to go eat.  Look how skinny Lamar is getting! He looks so good!
And, once again, I walk out our door and FALL!! 4th fall of our trip!! A lot of the snow melted today and refroze so it was REALLY slippery!! I have great traction on my snow boots, too.  When I first fell, I wanted to cuss but I DIDN'T!! I ended up just laughing and telling Lamar to get a picture of my 4th fall!!! :) That fall did hurt a little bit.  And, the people in the hot tub above us saw me bust, too! Oh well!  So, we go to the eating place and get seated and ended up not wanting to eat there so we headed to Frisco (which has one of the most gorgeous views I have EVER seen) and looked for a place to eat that was rated #1. We drove around lost for 30 minutes...we couldn't follow the maps on my iPhone GPS apps.  We must have turned around 4 times on the same road.  The whole time we were lost, I was texting with Macy about our Wii that I sold that she wanted but I didn't know she wanted. I finally told Lamar to just go to Wendy's.  The man who took my order was talking to me in Spanish and I couldn't understand him. He started out his sentence with "Como". I felt bad because I couldn't understand his words and kept saying, "Excuse me?" Mar didn't even order food because there was nothing healthy for him to eat.  I ordered a burger and fries which I haven't done in FOREVER!! I can't even remember the last time I ate a burger.  I hadn't eaten since 12:00 and it was 7:00 (actually, I take that back, Mar and I ate some apple slices in the hot tub).  Anyway, while I was eating my fries in Wendy's, I just started crying.  I got a bad attitude and started complaining.  This is the thing, though...God's ways are not our ways and He allows everything to happen.  And in the grand scheme of things, falls, wrong runs, unexpected shuttle buses, wrong restaurants, getting lost, and getting your feelings hurt are really no big deal. Things may not have gone OUR way but I have absolutely NO reason to complain!!! There is SO much to be thankful for!!! SO MUCH!! I read stories about parents who have kids who are dying and I have the nerve to complain! UGH! Sickening! Not only are we healthy and all our loved ones are healthy, we are also in a gorgeous place surrounded my God's glorious mountains. So what if I keep falling and if we keep getting lost. Big deal! Today was a good test for me that I passed for most of the day, which is a step forward for me.  Because I started out my day in the Word, prayer, listening to our online church service, and Joyce Meyer, I didn't lose it until the end of the day! Think how bad I would be if I didn't start out the day right! No telling where I would be without the Lord. He gives me strength that I really need! I don't naturally have a quite and gentle spirit. I'm feisty and have to WORK hard on myself and couldn't do it without the Lord.  Now, we'll see how tomorrow is......it is Valentine's day and Mar and I are going on a sleigh ride, which I'll write about tomorrow but I have been wanting to do this sleigh ride with my husband since junior high. I hope all goes well, but if it doesn't, I plan on having a good attitude and will definitely ask the Lord to help me!! I SO need Him!!!

Now, time for my cortisone shot! Good times! :) HA! No, seriously, I am SO thankful for that shot!!!

Happy Valentine's Day Eve! :)

Fast and Easy Rolo Brownie Bites

Happy Happy Friday, y'all! Some of y'all might know that back in the day I had a baking blog. And, by back in the day, I mean I started it in 2009 and my last post was in 2011. I probably should update it and keep adding to it, but I just don't bake or cook as much anymore now that our nest is empty. But, I did have so much fun with that blog. I would just bake or cook as usual but along the way I would take pictures and blog about the recipes. I still go back to that site and get recipes. I send my kids and friends there when they are wanting a certain recipe, too. It's so easy to just send them a link. I'm all about fast and easy recipes! One of my favorite super easy "go to" recipes are these super yummy and easy brownie bites. I first blogged about these in 2009 here but thought I would add the yummy recipe to this blog, too.  Ingredients: Brownie Mix (I use the Duncan Hines 13x9 family size). Rolo's (they now have them unwrapped) WOOHO...

Dresser Redo

I've been so bad at blogging in the past few years. I blog so I can remember. I painted a set of chest of drawers a few years ago in our other house and I loved the result. The only problem is I didn't blog about it so I have no record of what I did to it. I have no idea what red paint color I used. I thought I had it written on FB but I have searched and searched and I can't find anywhere where I wrote the paint color so now I have this wonderful red chest of drawers and have no idea what the color is. I didn't want that to happen again so I am making sure that I write about the chest of drawers in our master bedroom that I recently painted.  Here is the piece of furniture before Sorry about me in my robe in the mirror. LOL! I really wanted to lighten this up so I decided I would paint it white. I LOVE white and thought it would be great SO I used this chalk paint that I got at Michael's. I had already used it on my coffee table and thought it would be f...

He is Risen INDEED!!!

Happy Easter!!! Ahhhh...I'm just SO SO thankful that Christ ROSE and we are free!!! WOOHOOOO!!! I alway love the Easter service at church at this was no exception. The worship is always my favorite and every year I wish I would have gone to both services. This year our church had the Arkansas Symphony up there with them and the music was just so beautiful! All the songs were such wonderful songs about Christ rising again. And there was a huge wooden cross on the stage that was so beautiful. I, of course, had to take a picture but the picture doesn't quite do it justice. It was just so beautiful.    Brandon preached the sermon and it was so good, too. After the sermon, we sung an old hymn that I love.....Because He Lives. Easter was even more special today because Kevin and Macy were with us. This was their one year dating anniversary and they have now been married 15 days! This weekend was their first time here since they have been married. We got to see them last weekend...
