Breckenridge trip first two days :)

Mar and I headed out bright and early yesterday morning to go to Breckenridge.  It had just snowed and the streets were pretty icy so we parked at the top of our hill on Thursday night just in case we couldn't get up the next morning.  When we left LR, it was 9 degrees!! When we got to Denver it was above freezing and felt warm!! There are LOTS of pictures but I like to document everything.
Here Mar is about to walk up our hill.  The sun is coming up and so pretty in the background.  Yes, we both have pink bags and they help us find our luggage so much easier!! :) When we got to Denver, we couldn't find our baggage claim until I spotted our two pink bags off in the distance on the conveyer belt!
Walking up the ICY hill!! I was so glad we parked at the top!! The weather has been crazy in AR!! The temperature got to -18 in Fayetteville...a record low!!! Some places in AR got 24 inches of snow!!! I don't remember it ever being so cold and I definitely don't ever remember seeing the streets covered in snow the way they were when we left.  I've heard they've melted since then and that it's warm there now. :)
One of my favorite sites from the plane..the beautiful mountains! :) Our plane was about 30 minutes late due to mechanical difficulties.  That's always reassuring to hear your captain announce that! :) I got motion sickness on the plane but ate a Tootsie Pop and it went away. It was a great ride.  Because I was feeling sick and didn't want to look at anything after about 30 minutes, I just prayed the rest of the way. It was great time with the Lord.  I think I will do that more often on planes.  When I was feeling better, I looked at Lamar's Bible dictionary with him and it as surprisingly interesting.  When we landed, we rented a car from Enterprise and they had GREAT customer service!! The best I've ever had.  They offered us drinks and were so so nice!! We even were blessed with a Honda Accord...my favorite car! :) God is good! If you look for Him, you can see him in everything!
After the beautiful drive to Breckenridge, we arrived at our condo.
Then, we headed back to Frisco to Wal-Mart which reminded me of an Wal-Mart from the 80's. I actually liked it, though....brought back memories. Then, we went to the grocery store and loaded up on food.  After that, we decided to go ahead and get our lift tickets and ski equipment where we wouldn't have to go to the base of the mountain and get them.  We are staying in a ski in/ski out for the first time and it's GREAT!!!
I just can't quit taking pictures of the glorious mountains!! Look how pretty these are! These are some of the mountains in Frisco.  Pictures don't do them justice. I look at these and feel God's glory!!! We had an interesting first night in our condo.  First of all, we can hear every move the people make above us so we woke up at 1:30 am to a loud thud upstairs (I'm not complaining.....just telling the facts.....believe me, it's hard to complain about anything here). Then, we went back to sleep and were awakened again by our fire alarm in our bedroom!! Our room started filling up with smoke! It was crazy! I went outside to see if the condo was on fire upstairs. It wasn't.  Lamar opened the windows and doors and the smoke started disappearing.  There was also a bad plastic burning smell.  I remembered seeing an emergency number to call on one of the information sheets so Lamar called and the lady said he should have called 911.  It turns out that the almost fire occurred because Lamar had taken the screens off the windows earlier (where I could take a good picture) :) and when he put them on the ground, he put them in front of the heater that is on the ground (there was a burn mark across one of the screens). So, I am SO thankful for fire alarms!! AND, I am SO glad our unit doesn't have sprinklers that go off.  We found out today when the lady and maintenance man came out that the bigger units have sprinklers! We would have had quite the bill had that have happened and had we called 911!!
We woke up this morning bright and early to more walking around upstairs and then were able to go back to sleep. I am thankful we were able to because I am taking a lot of dexamethasone (side affect is not being able to sleep) for altitude sickness.  It works wonders and I am so thankful for it because I was never able to enjoy a trip to the mountains before because I got sick every single time. I did some research last year and discovered the dexamethaosone and I DO NOT feel the altitude (other than no appetite which I'll take!)!! I am so thankful because I love the beauty of the mountains and I am now able to enjoy it! I have a little trouble sleeping but that's okay...it's SO worth it!! Anyway, this picture it taken right outside our door.  It is on a ski slope which is so much fun!! I love watching the people ski down!
Our skis are CUTE!!!!
We just walk out our door and ski down to the lift! It's great! Glad for self timer where we can take pictures together. :)
Our condo is on the bottom. I LOVE our hot tub!!! I took this from the ski slope. :)
Love :)
I had so much fun skiing today!! I've had a knee injury from running so was a little worried about skiing.  My knee did hurt a little but it was good enough to ski. I fell twice which I never do because I am so cautious! I think it's a good sign because I'm less fearful. Lamar said I went down the fastest today that I've gone. I felt more comfortable, too.  The slopes are real icy right now, though, because there hasn't been snow in 4 or 5 days.  We got behind a snow plow and that was GREAT because we were on all powder. Both my falls were not bad falls.  One was when I wasn't even skiing down the moutain..just walking on skis and the other one was when I tried to pick up my ski to turn and all the snow came with it so it tripped me. I did the splits with my knees turned in and my skis didn't come off! :) I was so glad that I didn't get discouraged or mad!! I was even able to get up by myself with my skis still on! HA! :) That fall did hurt both my knees but that's okay...dexamethaosone is a cure all!! :)
I love Breckenridge!! They have a sled roller coaster!! We didn't ride it and I don't really want to but I think it's so neat!!!
Mar on the mountain. He's a good teacher to me.  He tells me what to do and then I just follow his tracks and motions down the mountain.
We didn't ski long because I was basically doing a squat for 2 solid hours and my legs were like jello! I didn't want to come in but it was best and we were both really tired! We looked at the run to ski back to our condo but it looked like part of the run was yellow/black so we skied down another run and then walked up the steep hill! It was quite the work out which I was glad for because I haven't been able to do my regular walk/runs, although I have been doing the exercise bike.  After the maintenance man and the lady came, we asked them about it and they said it's ALL green so we'll try doing that run tomorrow and then we won't have to trek up that steep hill.
After we got back from skiing, we hopped in the hot tub! I was in HEAVEN! This was my favorite part of the day! I stayed in there an hour and would have stayed in all day if Mar wasn't ready for me to get out. I just sat there and took in the beauty of the mountains, watched skiers, felt the hot water and the REALLY cold wind on my face. I just loved it!!! I can't wait to do it again tomorrow!!! GLORIOUS!!
After the hot tub, Mar and I took a nap and then headed out to go to the grocery store again (Mar forgot cinnamon and green beans for the soup he makes) and then we headed to the cute Breckenridge shops! This is Snow Flake run right out of our condo.
Sun starting to set...so pretty.
The mountains are so much bigger in person than the look in the pictures. I wish I could capture it better.
I really can't stop myself from taking pictures. It's just all so beautiful!!!
The shops are so cute here!! I didn't know what to do with myself because they were so cute! I was overwhelmed with the cuteness EVERYWHERE!!! Everything was all lit up and so charming.
This store was SOOOOOO cute!! I loved it so much! It reminded me of Sabrina and it was wonderful on the inside, too! It's called Canary in a Clothes Mine.
They had a big white moose above their sign wearing necklaces bright red lipstick! (It's on the collage at the bottom of this post). So creative and cute!!!
A cupcake shop!! It was so cute, just like everything else in this town!! Lamar and I both have no appetite. It's so weird to love something so so much and then that desire be gone. I haven't even craved chocolate!! It's really strange but I like it! :) I got a cupcake because I felt like I had to since I went in there and took pictures and I wanted to try one to compare it to our cupcake place in LR. I got cookies and cream and it was SO good but I didn't even finish it which is crazy for me!!  This store was so adorable!
I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this store. It was called Magical Scraps (or something like that) and the whole thing was just so unique!! They sew most of their stuff in there. I told the girl who works in there (she was young and sews) about my mom sewing and how she was saying recently it was a lost art. I told her my mom would be so proud!  Everything in the store is bright and cheery, not to mention, the old house it is in is cute as pie! She said people come in that store all the time and say it's the cutest store they've ever seen.  The porch outside was painted to look antiqued.  They also have a super cute rope swing hanging from the porch along with adorable banners.  You can see another picture in the collage of the stores at the bottom of this post.
A horse drawn carriage driving down the road...SO charming!!!
Poor Mar..he was starting to feel bad from not eating.  All he had eaten ALL day was a few apple slices and pecans and that was right when he woke up.  He NEEDED to eat!! He didn't have any energy. So, we walked to this place where he really wanted to go and when we got in there, they were all full! So we ate here....
Tried and true!!! YAY for Subway!!! He couldn't believe how much better he felt afterwards! Like a new person! :)
I got this shirt at Canary in a Clothes Mine. It had my name written all over it!! Pink/white tie dye with white hearts all down the sleeves with one red heart! I LOVE it and the lady who works in the store made it so it's unique.
A collage of all the cute stores!!! We will go back another time and do the other side of the street. We only got one side tonight. I got a lot of cute pictures with my iPhone but I can't put them on here because I sync my phone with my other computer at home.

Well, we're getting tired so we're going to head to bed! It's almost midnight (it's an hour earlier here).  I'll post tomorrow night about our day tomorrow. :) I'm so glad I'm actually blogging about our trip. I always plan to blog our trips and never do. I figure it I do this every night, I'll get it done. If I plan on doing it later, it will never happen and I won't remember details.  More tomorrow!

Fast and Easy Rolo Brownie Bites

Happy Happy Friday, y'all! Some of y'all might know that back in the day I had a baking blog. And, by back in the day, I mean I started it in 2009 and my last post was in 2011. I probably should update it and keep adding to it, but I just don't bake or cook as much anymore now that our nest is empty. But, I did have so much fun with that blog. I would just bake or cook as usual but along the way I would take pictures and blog about the recipes. I still go back to that site and get recipes. I send my kids and friends there when they are wanting a certain recipe, too. It's so easy to just send them a link. I'm all about fast and easy recipes! One of my favorite super easy "go to" recipes are these super yummy and easy brownie bites. I first blogged about these in 2009 here but thought I would add the yummy recipe to this blog, too.  Ingredients: Brownie Mix (I use the Duncan Hines 13x9 family size). Rolo's (they now have them unwrapped) WOOHO...

Dresser Redo

I've been so bad at blogging in the past few years. I blog so I can remember. I painted a set of chest of drawers a few years ago in our other house and I loved the result. The only problem is I didn't blog about it so I have no record of what I did to it. I have no idea what red paint color I used. I thought I had it written on FB but I have searched and searched and I can't find anywhere where I wrote the paint color so now I have this wonderful red chest of drawers and have no idea what the color is. I didn't want that to happen again so I am making sure that I write about the chest of drawers in our master bedroom that I recently painted.  Here is the piece of furniture before Sorry about me in my robe in the mirror. LOL! I really wanted to lighten this up so I decided I would paint it white. I LOVE white and thought it would be great SO I used this chalk paint that I got at Michael's. I had already used it on my coffee table and thought it would be f...

He is Risen INDEED!!!

Happy Easter!!! Ahhhh...I'm just SO SO thankful that Christ ROSE and we are free!!! WOOHOOOO!!! I alway love the Easter service at church at this was no exception. The worship is always my favorite and every year I wish I would have gone to both services. This year our church had the Arkansas Symphony up there with them and the music was just so beautiful! All the songs were such wonderful songs about Christ rising again. And there was a huge wooden cross on the stage that was so beautiful. I, of course, had to take a picture but the picture doesn't quite do it justice. It was just so beautiful.    Brandon preached the sermon and it was so good, too. After the sermon, we sung an old hymn that I love.....Because He Lives. Easter was even more special today because Kevin and Macy were with us. This was their one year dating anniversary and they have now been married 15 days! This weekend was their first time here since they have been married. We got to see them last weekend...
