LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! Valentine's Day 2011

Valentine's Day 2011 was a GREAT day!! Mar woke up at 3:00 in the morning thinking he heard a noise and it woke me up.  After that, we were both wide awake (not surpising for me being on this cortisone but Mar always goes right back to sleep). Mar was so sweet and gave me a Valentine's present in the middle of the night..... he played with my hair for a long time and then gave me a awesome massage.  It was so relaxing!! When we looked at the clock again, it was 5:30 am! He went back to sleep but I wasn't tired so I went and took a bath and prayed for Macy while I was in the tub. After that, I texted her and we had a good Valentine day conversation.  She was already up and headed to school (hour later there).  I finally went back to sleep around 6:30 or 7:00 and woke up again at 9:00.  Mar got up and did his quiet time while I laid in bed a little while longer...so tired but unable to sleep. Then, I got my cortisone shot and then was able to function better.  We had no plans for today other than to go on a sleigh ride tonight so we just took it easy all day. It was GREAT!!! We got in the hot tub for almost 2 hours and then both of us almost passed out! I had no idea that being in a hot tub that long could take it out of you like that!  It's so worth it, though!! I just love sitting in that hot tub talking to Mar and watching the mountains and skiers around us! It's one of my very favorite things!
After the hot tub, we ate Mar's soup again (so glad he made that!) and then headed to the shops in Breckenridge to look at the other side of the street that we didn't get to the other day.
It was unseasonably warm again today. I got hot and took my coat off right after this picture.  I heard it's 15 degrees warmer than usual. It was another gorgeous day!
The cute horses again...today they had on Valentine stuffed animals...so cute!!!
We went in a super fun hat store that had every kind of hat imaginable!! SO much fun!! I tried on a crazy blonde wig and red wig!! HA!! Fun times!
I LOVE this picture of Mar-e-doodle!!! HA! HA! :)  He didn't want to put it on..imagine that! He's such a good sport and put it on anyway (well, I actually put it on his head but he was a good sport about it) to just make me smile! I think it's so funny!!  We only shopped for 1 1/2 because we had to get back to go on our sleigh ride in Keystone.
My Valentine's presents from Mar. :) Cute sock monkey with a heart on him, a sock monkey hat, and a hot pink scarf! :) For some reasons, all these cute sock monkeys are so appealing to me right now.  They are just plain cute! I want to get one for Rosy Love. :) I gave Mar a card this morning and he gave me a cute little homemade card with a text that was supposed to bing when he gave me the card but my volume is never on.  We didn't bring presents here because we didn't want to pack them so Mar and I shopped together for my Valentine's presents. :) I am getting Mar a new Bible for Valentine's Day when we get back....one with 4 different translations and I am going to get his name inscribed on it....Mar-e-doodle. :)
Here we are about to head to Keystone for our sleigh ride.  When I was in 8th grade, I went to Keystone with my family and a group from Family Life  We went on this sleigh ride that was so wonderful! There were bells ringing on the horses and we took a ride out to a little cabin in the woods and had a steak dinner.  I remember thinking that was the most romantic thing in the whole world and I daydreamed about being on that sleigh ride with my future husband (I've always been a hopeless romantic)!!  I kept saying, "I can't believe I am doing the most romantic thing in the world and I'm with my family and Family Life." HA! :) I did enjoy my family and the Family Life group but I wanted to be on that sleigh with my love.  Lamar has heard me talk about it for years and my dream came true!!! :).  This Valentine's day, 25 years later, I got to go on that same sleigh ride with my love!! It was just as romantic as I remembered.  And SO SO gorgeous!!! God is SO good!!!!
The drive from Breckenridge to Keystone is GORGEOUS!! It's one of the prettiest sights I have ever seen!! We are going to go back and get some better pictures.  There were cars behind us and we couldn't pull over but it was JUST gorgeous!!! The sun was setting behind the mountains and it was pink!! I wish everyone I know and love could have seen it!
I haven't been to Keystone since I was 17!!! I had no idea that town would bring back so many memories!! The last time I was in this tunnel, it was painted a light blue.
The Keystone ice skating rink. I remember shopping here so long ago and I LOVE the skating rink with a big lit up tree in the middle! :) Keystone was where I first learned to ski. I first went in 7th grade and never liked it at all because my feet always froze and I always got sick. My poor parents had a lot to put up with when I went skiing with them but they kept bringing me back every year.  Now, I'm so thankful they did and with toastie-toes and cortisone, I can enjoy it! :) Thank you, Lord!
Here's a picture when I was in 9th grade at that same ice skating rink with the Christmas tree behind us! ;) I'm with my brother, Sheldon, and his friend, Jeff, and my sister's best friend, Marley.
Mar in the ice sculpture.
Our sleigh ride horses, Ernie and Bert. :)
The sleigh was exactly how I remembered it.  We drove a bus out to the sleighs and the bus ride was just amazingly gorgeous.  Then the actual sleigh ride was like being in John Kincaid painting.  It was just beautiful! We ate at a little cabin where the people used to be dairy farmers hundreds of years ago. The cabin was called the Smith house (which I love since that's my maiden name) and was so charming.  There was no electricity out there....everything is run by the solar energy panels.  The little cabin reminded me of Little House on the Prairie.  I imagined the people living in that cabin back then and how they must have lived....having that beauty surrounding them every morning when they woke up must have been wonderful in so many ways. Just think, when we get to heaven, we'll have that EVERY DAY but even better. I can't even imagine something prettier!  I wish I had pictures but it was too dark. If we ever get the blessing to do that again, we'll do the 4:30 sleigh ride where we can see the sunset and I can get some great pix!
After we got off our sleigh, we went in the Smith cabin and had a great meal. There were buttermilk biscuits with honey butter waiting on us along with vegetable beef soup, hot chocolate and water.  We sat at a table with two other couples. There were about 8 tables in there.  After we finished our appetizers, they brought us out our entrees. I got grilled chicken and Mar got steak.  The meal was delicious.  They even brought out an apple pie dessert ala mode that was GREAT!! I wasn't even that hungry and I still enjoyed it! It was REALLY good food!!! While we were eating, a banjo guy sang and he made us laugh.  He had a good personality and was fun to watch.  He reminded us both of Kathryn a little bit (but a guy, of course).
The couple sitting across from us took our picture.  It was so fun people watching (and listening). I told Mar that I was so thankful that I didn't have to go on first dates and have the awkwardness!! I have actually been enjoying my time up in the middle of the night because I am having great times with the Lord.  I know that He is our first Valentine and the best LOVE of all!! He LOVES us so so much and wants to lavish us with His great love!!! I love Valentine's Day no matter what and always will just because God is LOVE and even if you don't have a human on the planet to share it with, God is always there loving you. I prayed yesterday that everyone would feel His love strongly!! He IS LOVE!!!

Three things that will last forever - faith, hope, and love - and the greatest of these is LOVE!!

Fast and Easy Rolo Brownie Bites

Happy Happy Friday, y'all! Some of y'all might know that back in the day I had a baking blog. And, by back in the day, I mean I started it in 2009 and my last post was in 2011. I probably should update it and keep adding to it, but I just don't bake or cook as much anymore now that our nest is empty. But, I did have so much fun with that blog. I would just bake or cook as usual but along the way I would take pictures and blog about the recipes. I still go back to that site and get recipes. I send my kids and friends there when they are wanting a certain recipe, too. It's so easy to just send them a link. I'm all about fast and easy recipes! One of my favorite super easy "go to" recipes are these super yummy and easy brownie bites. I first blogged about these in 2009 here but thought I would add the yummy recipe to this blog, too.  Ingredients: Brownie Mix (I use the Duncan Hines 13x9 family size). Rolo's (they now have them unwrapped) WOOHO...

Dresser Redo

I've been so bad at blogging in the past few years. I blog so I can remember. I painted a set of chest of drawers a few years ago in our other house and I loved the result. The only problem is I didn't blog about it so I have no record of what I did to it. I have no idea what red paint color I used. I thought I had it written on FB but I have searched and searched and I can't find anywhere where I wrote the paint color so now I have this wonderful red chest of drawers and have no idea what the color is. I didn't want that to happen again so I am making sure that I write about the chest of drawers in our master bedroom that I recently painted.  Here is the piece of furniture before Sorry about me in my robe in the mirror. LOL! I really wanted to lighten this up so I decided I would paint it white. I LOVE white and thought it would be great SO I used this chalk paint that I got at Michael's. I had already used it on my coffee table and thought it would be f...

He is Risen INDEED!!!

Happy Easter!!! Ahhhh...I'm just SO SO thankful that Christ ROSE and we are free!!! WOOHOOOO!!! I alway love the Easter service at church at this was no exception. The worship is always my favorite and every year I wish I would have gone to both services. This year our church had the Arkansas Symphony up there with them and the music was just so beautiful! All the songs were such wonderful songs about Christ rising again. And there was a huge wooden cross on the stage that was so beautiful. I, of course, had to take a picture but the picture doesn't quite do it justice. It was just so beautiful.    Brandon preached the sermon and it was so good, too. After the sermon, we sung an old hymn that I love.....Because He Lives. Easter was even more special today because Kevin and Macy were with us. This was their one year dating anniversary and they have now been married 15 days! This weekend was their first time here since they have been married. We got to see them last weekend...
