Relaxing Day in Breckenridge

I slept about 5 hours last night! YAY! Normally that would not be all that great but I haven't slept more than 2 hours at a time since last Thursday.  I only took 2 mg of cortisone last night so I slept until about 5:45 am.  I woke up a few times in the night but I still got more sleep than I have been. I wasn't feeling the altitude this morning so when it was time for my shot, I just got another 2 mg.  I noticed my appetite was back this morning.  Kind of a bummer in a way. It's been nice to not have to worry about calories or the next yummy thing I'm going to eat.  We took it easy this morning.  We ate and listened to a GREAT Joyce Meyer sermon and then headed to the slopes around 11:30.
I was excited to wear my monkey hat! The small things in life! :) You're never too old to have fun!
We've been taking a self timer picture every day when we leave our condo. :) It was again unseasonably warm so I wore my lighter winter coat and Mar didn't even wear a coat.  We saw guys laying out on the mountain with no shirts on. It really felt like it was about 70 degrees even though it was about 40.  Mar and I both got hot and sweaty.
We walked to our shuttle and took a bus ride that was just a few minutes to Beaver Run at Peak 9.  Our bus driver was so nice.
Here we are riding up the lift.  I have to admit, this was not a good ski day for us. I had trouble with my boots (they are a half size too big because they were all out of whole sizes at the rental shop) and we both had trouble putting our actual skis on this morning. Mar even fell (which I've never seen him do) because his boot fell out of his ski. The slopes were the iciest I have ever seen and it made it really hard to control my skis.  I'm not very good anyway so I got a little frustrated. My ski tips kept crossing over each other and every time I tried to stop, I couldn't because of the ice.  So, I snow plowed the whole way down the slope and I fell and hurt my left knee. Mar and I started to get in a fight because we were both so frustrated but fortunately, we didn't let it linger and both apologized.  After one run, we returned our skis and ran to the store to get more water. I also got Rosy Love a little prize there. I saw a stuffed bear that had her name written all over it!! Actually, her name really was written on the bow...her middle name is Love and the bear has a big pink bow in her hair that says, "Love".  After the store, we came home and ate, listened to that Joyce Meyer podcast again (it was that good...Mar took notes) and got in the hot tub.   My favorite times have been in the hot tub.  Mar and I stay in there for a long time and just talk. Today, the hot tub maintenance man was cleaning the hot tub above us and dumped ice and water all over us while we were in there.  He felt bad! It was kind of funny!! Then, we came back in and lied down for a little bit. Macy called and said her car has been shaking A LOT when she goes from 68-75 mph.  We told her to drive Mar's car and we'll get it fixed this weekend. I had a good talk with her on the phone and then I started to feel the altitude so Mar gave me more cortisone (this time 3 mg) and that helped a lot.  I should not have halved my dose. I could really feel the effects of it wearing off and didn't have any energy.  So, Mar and I have literally just been lying in bed since this afternoon.  We had a good prayer time. Mar has spent almost the whole day in the Word. I am so thankful to have a husband who loves the Lord so much.  We finally got up around 8:30 pm and ate and I probably ate more in one meal than I have this whole time put together. I was so hungry (what was that I was just saying about cortisone?? Maybe I'm wrong) :) !!!
Right now, while I'm blogging, he's reading the Bible and taking notes.  He really wanted this trip to be a spiritual time and it has been.
I feel how I look...worn out!!

Tomorrow is a day where we have nothing planned. I have no idea what we're going to do.  We aren't going to ski anymore because the slopes will be icy again tomorrow........it is going to be warm again and the snow melts and then ices.  I was wanting to snow shoe but Mar doesn't want to at all so who knows...we have a free day to go with the flow. We'll see what tomorrow brings. :) BUT, Thursday we are going dog sledding and snow mobiling! I am so excited!! All the reviews are GREAT for the dog sledding and the views are supposed to be amazing! I've been snow mobiling before and loved it but dog sledding...a whole new experience and I LOVE dogs!!! And, guess what we're doing on Friday??? Going to CHEESECAKE FACTORY!!! Our plane doesn't leave until late and we have to check out here at 10:00 so we have plenty of time to hang out in Denver.

Headed back to the hot tub! More later! :)

Fast and Easy Rolo Brownie Bites

Happy Happy Friday, y'all! Some of y'all might know that back in the day I had a baking blog. And, by back in the day, I mean I started it in 2009 and my last post was in 2011. I probably should update it and keep adding to it, but I just don't bake or cook as much anymore now that our nest is empty. But, I did have so much fun with that blog. I would just bake or cook as usual but along the way I would take pictures and blog about the recipes. I still go back to that site and get recipes. I send my kids and friends there when they are wanting a certain recipe, too. It's so easy to just send them a link. I'm all about fast and easy recipes! One of my favorite super easy "go to" recipes are these super yummy and easy brownie bites. I first blogged about these in 2009 here but thought I would add the yummy recipe to this blog, too.  Ingredients: Brownie Mix (I use the Duncan Hines 13x9 family size). Rolo's (they now have them unwrapped) WOOHO...

Show us where you live Friday.....the Kitchen

Most of you probably read Kelly's blog . She is so much fun! Well, she is hosting a "Show us where you Live Friday" and this week is the kitchen edition. I am excited about this because I absolutely LOVE looking at houses and decor....it's so much fun and can really show someones personality. I just love to see how others express themselves through decorating. While I really do love my kitchen, it is the room I am looking forward to redoing the very most. My future plans are to take down the wallpaper and paint, paint the ceiling, redo the cabinets (probably really dark wood), paint the island black, take down the florescent light fixture above the island and replace with something a little more up to date, and replace the curtains. I think the previous owners did a great job decorating it but I would rather it be more my personality. I spend A LOT of time in my kitchen and I really enjoy it!! When my mom and dad moved, they gave me their big round table that seats...

Christmas Decorations

I am so behind on my blog, once again. I have so much to write about......Thanksgiving, the Turkey Trot, the Granny Walk, Marcifest, the LSU/HOG game, etc.  It was all wonderful! I don't want to leave all of that out.  I'll go back and catch up or at least I think I will.  One thing I learned way back in the day when I was scrapbooking was that if I got behind to just start where I was instead of backtracking. Otherwise, it was just too overwhelming. So, I'm starting with right now and right now, I'm decorating for Christmas.  I LOVE Christmas...the music, the atmosphere, and most especially, the celebration of Christ's birth. I got a pretty swag for my door and wanted garland to match. I have a wonderful friend, Hope, who is an incredibly talented decorator and she volunteered to make the garland for me.  We went shopping together and she knew exactly what to buy and came to my house and put it all together.  She did a great job! I love my door!!...
