Well, this has been an unexpected week. On Monday morning, Lamar woke up in too much pain to go to work. This was the second time recently that he had to call in from stomach pain. The first time he thought it was a virus but he learned that day that it was his umbilical hernia causing his pain. When he had the same pain on Monday, I asked him to call my dad and ask him what to do. Dad told him to go to the ER and Dad called his friends immediately. Dr. Everitt Tucker was in surgery all day but said he would meet Lamar when he got to the ER. THANK YOU, DAD!!! When Lamar got to the ER, Dad met him there and Lamar didn't even have to go in the waiting room (which I call a petri dish...let's face it..going in there is asking for a virus....and who needs the flu or norovirus..not any of us!) and got to go right back to a room where Dr. Tucker saw him and said he needed to have his surgery right away and Lamar was in surgery by noon. How awesome is that! And we were home by 3:00! I told Lamar he had my father and our heavenly Father to thank for that. Dr. Tucker told us (me and mom) that his hernia was really bad and it was good he had it done. He said he probably had it since birth and that he had to reconstruct something (I think his belly button). He said the hernia was adhered to his belly button. He had to use mesh to correct it and didn't do it laproscopically like I thought at first. Anyway, Lamar has been recovering at home ever since. He hasn't been able to see patients. He is going to try to go in tomorrow and see some hygiene patients but there is no way he can sit and lean over to work on his patients. So, we will see about hygiene tomorrow.
I didn't go to the ER with Mar on Monday morning. We talked about it and decided it wouldn't be the best thing for me to be in the ER (we didn't know he wouldn't have to go to the waiting room) and that I would just meet him when he got a room before surgery.  My immune system has been crazy lately (more on that later). SO, I got up there really quick after he got a room and got to be with him before surgery. His nurses were SOOOO nice!!! Lamar was so funny because right before the picture above, he said, "The nurse said she put something in my IV but I sure don't feel anything." Two seconds later, he was out! :) Then they wheeled him off to surgery and I went to the waiting room. The lady gave me a private waiting room which was so sweet. My mom went and got me some McBride's cookies and then Dad came and reminded her she had a 2:00 dermatologist appointment so she rushed out and I wasn't there long before they called me to come get Lamar to take him home. He is an easy patient and I am SO glad this surgery is over and done with! I trust God with it and am glad He took good care of my man! He loves him way more than I ever could. He's such a good Dad!

Fast and Easy Rolo Brownie Bites

Happy Happy Friday, y'all! Some of y'all might know that back in the day I had a baking blog. And, by back in the day, I mean I started it in 2009 and my last post was in 2011. I probably should update it and keep adding to it, but I just don't bake or cook as much anymore now that our nest is empty. But, I did have so much fun with that blog. I would just bake or cook as usual but along the way I would take pictures and blog about the recipes. I still go back to that site and get recipes. I send my kids and friends there when they are wanting a certain recipe, too. It's so easy to just send them a link. I'm all about fast and easy recipes! One of my favorite super easy "go to" recipes are these super yummy and easy brownie bites. I first blogged about these in 2009 here but thought I would add the yummy recipe to this blog, too.  Ingredients: Brownie Mix (I use the Duncan Hines 13x9 family size). Rolo's (they now have them unwrapped) WOOHO...

Bye Bye 80's kitchen!!

Well, my kitchen is mostly finished!! It's completely painted!! I am so excited to have a brighter updated kitchen.  It just feels completely different.  I'm not completely finished but here's what I've got for now.   The cabinet color is Benjamin Moore Linen White and the walls are Benjamin Moore clay beige. I'm so glad to see the florescent oak square light gone!! I replaced it with chandeliers I got at a flea market!! :) We also hired an electrician to put more canned lighting in because after the florescent square was gone, we needed more lighting. I painted 48 cabinets and drawers and the body of the cabinets (don't know what the official name for that is) and was so burned out by the time I finished the island that my sweet husband suggested we hire a painter to paint the rest for me! I am SOOOO glad he did!!!!  See the faith, truth, love window frame beside the pantry door? Well, my super talented sister-in-law, Sabrin...
Mar and I didn't go to church this morning. :( We hate to miss. We woke up about 8:30, talked a little bit, prayed a little bit and then the next thing we know, it's 10:30!!! We must have really needed the sleep. We leave for church at 10:40 so there was no way we were going to make it. It felt wonderful to sleep in, though. We can alway watch the service on the Internet. After Rosie got home from church, we went and picked her up and took her to Wendy's to eat (we all really wanted Franke's but it was packed...at 1:45!) and then we headed to Party City where I got plates for Bunco (it's at my house on Thursday) and then we went to Garden Ridge and got a fake plant and a chair (for $99). The chair we were going to get was WAY more than that and a lot prettier but the one at Garden Ridge did the job fine and with no guilt for spending too much money on a beautiful chair. It is SO MUCH FUN to shop with Rosie...SO MUCH FUN!!! I hate to shop without her because she make...
