St John Day 2

August 15, 2013
I have Blogger to schedule after we are back. :)

This morning, I woke up early from the bird chirping experience written on the last post. :) I went back to sleep, though, and slept until about 9:30. I got up while Lamar slept a little bit longer. After we got up, we just took the place all in. We jumped in the pool, which is right outside our bedroom door and both talked about our dream house where we would have a pool just like this one right outside our bedroom door, preferably on the 2nd floor for privacy. Here is a picture of the pool which is about 14x20 feet..perfect for 2!!!
We absolutely love having a pool footsteps from where we sleep...who wouldn't, though? The privacy of it is so fabulous! We just love it!
AHHHHHH.....
Here's a picture of our bedroom. I took it last night before we got in it. I think it's so pretty, bright, and colorful. I love the decor here!

Here is one of the outside showers. It was amazing to take a shower in this and have nature surrounding me.  SO neat!!

This was the view this afternoon from our front deck. SO beautiful!!

I love how this tree is built into the house. Trip said one day the tree would grow and he didn't know what they would do then.

A hammock in the back.

Our view from the front porch again! I just kept thinking about heaven and how it's even going to be greater than this!
This was our view today while laying out. I never want to leave!!! I bought a book in the airport called Proof of Heaven written by a neurosurgeon. It is really good so far. I read it today while laying out and Lamar is reading one of his Christian fiction books. I did read some of my book to him because it's so interesting.
My favorite part about having a pool is just being able to jump right in whenever I get hot. It's SO refreshing. Of course, I can do this at any public pool but I get embarrassed. I just like having a private pool. I grew up with one and really miss it!  My dad doesn't miss having to take care of it, though. That was one reason he was glad they downsized.
I love these little steps right by the pool. Lamar says they lead to the garden. We will check it out tomorrow. Today we just relaxed ALL day! Perfect!

I don't have straight hair. That always surprises people. I have very wavy/curly/frizzy hair that I always straighten! I didn't have curly hair growing up. I got a perm my senior year of high school and after that, my hair was never straight again. I remember telling people that my perm lasted for years! I finally realized that was my real hair! HA! When I let my hair dry by itself, it is out of control. I have no idea how to fix it at all. My little sister, Hannah, has curly hair and can fix hers beautifully! I just can't seem to manage it, so I straighten it. Lamar took a picture of the back of my hair today. :) Here it is.
Today, Lamar heard me scream (it's funny because I can't remember why now) and he asked if I saw a lizard (which are really little iguanas..they are all over the place). My response was, "No, I wouldn't scream if I saw an iquana. I am used to them." WELL....a few minutes later I was about to wash off a knife in the sink and look what I saw!! I screamed!! HAAAA!! I just wasn't expecting to see one in the sink!
A few minutes later, I was in our room and saw another little guy just hanging out. :) I didn't scream. :) Okay, quick side note...Lamar is talking to the bird again! HA! I think it's so funny that he does that! He chirps back at him. I've never heard a bird quite like this one that he is chirping to before.

Macy called me today to let me know that Emily's (Macy's friend) parents are taking Charlie Bear until we get back. That was SOOOO sweet of them!!! Charlie had so much trouble making it up Macy's stairs that 3 people had to help him. Poor guy! So, Macy was going to commute back and forth but Emily said her parents love dogs and would watch him. They already have 2 of their own and 2 are coming to stay this weekend so they will have 5 dogs. Macy texted me a little while ago and said that they had already given Charlie Bear a bath, a blow-dry, a brushing, and cut his nails. They also trimmed his hair along his nails where he wouldn't slide on the wood floor as easily. It looks like we aren't the only people hanging out in paradise this week! HA! :) Here is a picture of my sweet boys....2 are of them in the car driving to Conway to meet Macy and one is on that same day in the house...Reg was right up against Charlie Bear. SO sweet!
Such sweet furry loves!

It started to sprinkle on us a little so we moved to chairs under the covering outside and just felt the breeze. It felt fabulous!! I started to get tired so we came in and read and then both fell asleep.
Here we are...relaxing on the futon in the living room.
Here's a picture of the futon that I took last night before we started relaxing on it.
And another. I just love this room!! LOVE it! I could EASILY live in a place this size..I love the coziness of it and Lamar and I are empty nesters, even though I don't feel like it because of our dogs. :) He's been wanting to downsize and we really need to. Being in a place like this makes me really want to! Easier to clean and just so cozy!! :)
My cell phone coverage alternates between NO SERVICE, DIGICEL BVI (which is the British Virgin Islands) and AT&T. I just never know what it's going to be. If it is on the BVI, we can't make calls out. Macy is able to call us, though. She has called twice while it's been on BVI. I wonder what the charge of that is going to be. :s We tried to call AT&T to change our plan for the week but we couldn't make a call out because our service was on BVI. Oh well, it's actually kind of nice. ;)

More tomorrow!!
Good Night!!!

Fast and Easy Rolo Brownie Bites

Happy Happy Friday, y'all! Some of y'all might know that back in the day I had a baking blog. And, by back in the day, I mean I started it in 2009 and my last post was in 2011. I probably should update it and keep adding to it, but I just don't bake or cook as much anymore now that our nest is empty. But, I did have so much fun with that blog. I would just bake or cook as usual but along the way I would take pictures and blog about the recipes. I still go back to that site and get recipes. I send my kids and friends there when they are wanting a certain recipe, too. It's so easy to just send them a link. I'm all about fast and easy recipes! One of my favorite super easy "go to" recipes are these super yummy and easy brownie bites. I first blogged about these in 2009 here but thought I would add the yummy recipe to this blog, too.  Ingredients: Brownie Mix (I use the Duncan Hines 13x9 family size). Rolo's (they now have them unwrapped) WOOHO...

Dresser Redo

I've been so bad at blogging in the past few years. I blog so I can remember. I painted a set of chest of drawers a few years ago in our other house and I loved the result. The only problem is I didn't blog about it so I have no record of what I did to it. I have no idea what red paint color I used. I thought I had it written on FB but I have searched and searched and I can't find anywhere where I wrote the paint color so now I have this wonderful red chest of drawers and have no idea what the color is. I didn't want that to happen again so I am making sure that I write about the chest of drawers in our master bedroom that I recently painted.  Here is the piece of furniture before Sorry about me in my robe in the mirror. LOL! I really wanted to lighten this up so I decided I would paint it white. I LOVE white and thought it would be great SO I used this chalk paint that I got at Michael's. I had already used it on my coffee table and thought it would be f...

He is Risen INDEED!!!

Happy Easter!!! Ahhhh...I'm just SO SO thankful that Christ ROSE and we are free!!! WOOHOOOO!!! I alway love the Easter service at church at this was no exception. The worship is always my favorite and every year I wish I would have gone to both services. This year our church had the Arkansas Symphony up there with them and the music was just so beautiful! All the songs were such wonderful songs about Christ rising again. And there was a huge wooden cross on the stage that was so beautiful. I, of course, had to take a picture but the picture doesn't quite do it justice. It was just so beautiful.    Brandon preached the sermon and it was so good, too. After the sermon, we sung an old hymn that I love.....Because He Lives. Easter was even more special today because Kevin and Macy were with us. This was their one year dating anniversary and they have now been married 15 days! This weekend was their first time here since they have been married. We got to see them last weekend...
