St. John Day 3

This morning, we woke up to the sound of rain. It was such a beautiful sound! We fell back asleep and woke back up around 9:30. We did our quiet times and I thanked God especially for Hope today as it is her 40th birthday. God really blessed me when He gave her to me! Lamar and I decided we would go to Cruz Bay to hike Lind Point Trail to Honeymoon Beach.
I just can't quit taking pictures of our view. Ahhhh..
Before we left.
Mar walking down the steps to our car.
There is just no way anyone could make it around up here on these mountains without a Jeep. The ride is crazy! There were several times today that I thought we almost died! The cars here just don't care about staying in their own lanes and they drive super fast through roads that are the steepest and windiest I have ever seen.

Once we left our cottage, we made a wrong turn at the end of our driveway and ended up at a dead end but it was a beautiful dead end with a mosaic of shells in the rocks and the view was gorgeous!

The drive to Cruz Bay was just gorgeous. The mountains here remind me of the Colorado mountains except islandy. They are overwhelmingly beautiful and so big! We got lost on our way but saw a bunch of goats just walking along the road together. It was funny because they knew to get over on the left side of the road when a car was coming. HA! We also saw lots of chickens.

When we finally made it to Cruz Bay and found a parking place (I prayed we would and right then, God provided a great spot), we went to the visitor's center and saw a Kohler generator there! Then we found Lind Point Trail and started our one mile hike to Honeymoon Beach. It was fun to be hiking to a beach!! It was an easy hike and we just wore our flip flops. When we were almost to the beach, we saw hermit crabs. They roll instead of walk, which I thought was funny!
We found the trail! YAY! Right behind the Visitor's Center.

Mar's ready for the 1 mile hike. :)
Hiking the rocky trail. It was an easy hike but the sun was intense at times.

When we got on Honeymoon Beach, we got in the shade and put on our sunscreen. I only brought a 15 and knew right away we would need more than that! We let our sunscreen dry in the shade under a coconut tree and then we got in the beautiful ocean!
We made it! :)
Yay for beautiful Honeymoon Beach.
Lamar said he'd never seen a coconut tree. I don't know that I have either.
I love that we could hang our stuff on a tree!
After our dip, we got out and laid out until we dried off and then got back under the shade of a tree because we didn't want to get burned and ruin the rest of our trip by being miserably sunburned. Then, we headed back to Cruz Bay. On the trail, it started raining. It was fun to be hiking in the rain...except my flip flops got REAL slippery! When we got back to Cruz Bay, we found the little sandwich shop where Lamar had the best banana bread he had ever eaten years ago when we went to St. John for the day from St. Thomas. He got a whole loaf of bread to bring back with us. I got some chicken salad that was really good. Then we headed back to our car to go to the grocery store to pick up a few more things.
After that, we started on the drive back to Mooncottage. It seemed to take a lot longer than usual but we went a different way. There are so many places along the way that are just so beautiful. I can't believe that there could be more beautiful places in the world. The last few miles of our drive are crazy....so so bumpy that I am sore the next day. The roads are not paved and winding is an understatement. It's just something you have to experience. By the time we got home, it was at least 5:00. We cleaned up a little and then got in our bed and fell asleep. It poured down rain while we were sleeping. We slept until about 7:30. We have taken afternoon naps every day since we have been here. It has been heavenly!

Then we got up and I ate a ham sandwich while Lamar ate a ton of coconut cream pie. Now we are watching The Quiet Man with John Wayne and Maureen O Hara. I like to do two things at once so I am blogging at the same time.

SO, that was our day 3. I think tomorrow we are just going to stay here and lay out and enjoy the pool. The driving wore us out today even more so than the hike. :)

Fast and Easy Rolo Brownie Bites

Happy Happy Friday, y'all! Some of y'all might know that back in the day I had a baking blog. And, by back in the day, I mean I started it in 2009 and my last post was in 2011. I probably should update it and keep adding to it, but I just don't bake or cook as much anymore now that our nest is empty. But, I did have so much fun with that blog. I would just bake or cook as usual but along the way I would take pictures and blog about the recipes. I still go back to that site and get recipes. I send my kids and friends there when they are wanting a certain recipe, too. It's so easy to just send them a link. I'm all about fast and easy recipes! One of my favorite super easy "go to" recipes are these super yummy and easy brownie bites. I first blogged about these in 2009 here but thought I would add the yummy recipe to this blog, too.  Ingredients: Brownie Mix (I use the Duncan Hines 13x9 family size). Rolo's (they now have them unwrapped) WOOHO...

Dresser Redo

I've been so bad at blogging in the past few years. I blog so I can remember. I painted a set of chest of drawers a few years ago in our other house and I loved the result. The only problem is I didn't blog about it so I have no record of what I did to it. I have no idea what red paint color I used. I thought I had it written on FB but I have searched and searched and I can't find anywhere where I wrote the paint color so now I have this wonderful red chest of drawers and have no idea what the color is. I didn't want that to happen again so I am making sure that I write about the chest of drawers in our master bedroom that I recently painted.  Here is the piece of furniture before Sorry about me in my robe in the mirror. LOL! I really wanted to lighten this up so I decided I would paint it white. I LOVE white and thought it would be great SO I used this chalk paint that I got at Michael's. I had already used it on my coffee table and thought it would be f...

He is Risen INDEED!!!

Happy Easter!!! Ahhhh...I'm just SO SO thankful that Christ ROSE and we are free!!! WOOHOOOO!!! I alway love the Easter service at church at this was no exception. The worship is always my favorite and every year I wish I would have gone to both services. This year our church had the Arkansas Symphony up there with them and the music was just so beautiful! All the songs were such wonderful songs about Christ rising again. And there was a huge wooden cross on the stage that was so beautiful. I, of course, had to take a picture but the picture doesn't quite do it justice. It was just so beautiful.    Brandon preached the sermon and it was so good, too. After the sermon, we sung an old hymn that I love.....Because He Lives. Easter was even more special today because Kevin and Macy were with us. This was their one year dating anniversary and they have now been married 15 days! This weekend was their first time here since they have been married. We got to see them last weekend...
