Orange Beach Vacay 2011

(I wrote this on Sept. 17 and am just  now posting.) I’m sitting here in the Ft. Lauderdale airport waiting to head back to Little Rock from our Orange Beach vacation.   We spent a week there and had a great time. It’s always hard to go home.   I always want to blog about our vacation because if I don’t, I’ll forget some things that I want to remember.   For example, because I blogged about our Colorado vacation, I remembered that Enterprise was the BEST place to rent a car so that’s who we used again and they were once again wonderful! We’ll never rent anywhere else.   We are sitting by some really nice people here who we’ve been talking to us about football and dentistry. They are from Jonesboro and have children and grandchildren in LR. Lamar is also watching the Nebraska game on TV.   He couldn’t find a SEC game on TV so he went with NE since Marci lives there. Anyway, back to our trip, we left last Saturday and our plane was delayed a couple of ho...

David and Goliath

Mar and I went to the beach last week and had a GREAT time!!! I definitely want to write about that (actually, I already have but haven't put it on my blog yet) but I just had to write about the neatest thing God did for me before I do anything else today.  I recently finished Beth Moore's Breaking Free Bible study and loved it so much that I wanted to do another Bible study of hers.  I have heard great things about the David Bible study for years so I bought it to start at the beach. I enjoyed getting up every morning and doing the study with the ocean in front of me (one of my FAVORITE things about the beach is doing my quiet times there).  On Saturday morning, though, I had to get the condo ready for us to leave by 10:00 am (I always clean for the cleaners) :) so I decided to do my Bible study in the airport. One of the many reasons I love Beth Moore Bible studies so much is because she asks questions that help me remember things.  On this day, one of t...

First step in painting our 80's oak cabinets

Well, I FINALLY bit the bullet and decided to paint my kitchen cabinets.  I've been thinking about doing it for a long time but just the thought was way too overwhelming.  We have LOTS of cabinets and drawers and I just knew it would be a project too big for me. I  have never liked the 80's oak.  Lamar had a painter friend look at them and he said it would be a huge job.  I just haven't had the nerve.  Well, last week, this happened: I noticed our floor was buckling in front of our refridgerator.  Lamar knew there was a leak under the fridge and that it had to be moved to find out what was going on. Well, the cabinets were sitting right on top of the fridge.  I mean right on top!! There wasn't even a 1/10 inch to spare (couldn't even fit a piece of paper between the cabinets and fridge...this fridge came with the house..now we know why) so Lamar had to take the cabinets off to move the fridge. Turns out, something spilled and it went under th...
Wow, it's once again been such a long time since I've blogged! I wanted to write about my used (new to me) car that I got.  I absolutely LOVE it and feel like God just gave me such a great gift! First of all, I have never driven a car as long as I drove my van.  I used to always lease cars because I liked having a new car every 2 years. I know that's a little spoiled but that's how I was. I guess I grew out of that because I had my van for 5 years.  I loved that car.  It just had everything I loved.  I love Hondas so much, too. They are so reliable and fun to drive so I didn't plan on getting rid of that car until it stopped driving, which as a Honda that would have been a LONG time.  Well, after we got back from the beach at the end of May, I noticed our car had a funny smell.  Macy and Hannah would complain about the smell of the van but I had never noticed it before.  It smelled like an old house to me.  I could still handle the smell to ...
I am so behind on blogging. I love to blog where I'll rememeber things that have happened. I take pictures all the time because if I don't take a picture of something, I'll tend to forget it ever happened.  If it weren't for Facebook, I would blog a lot more but I put a million pictures on FB and write, write, write.  There is just something in me that has to take pictures and write.  Anyway, all that to say that Macy just got back from Africa and I really need to blog about her trip!! It was her second time to go.  She went two years ago, too.  Ellie and I have been looking at her pictures this morning. It's so neat to hear about what happened on her trip and the way the Lord used her group.  I need to do a whole blog post about that (and hopefully I really will) because her trip was really neat!!! I have gained about 10 pounds in the last few months. I am estimating. I haven't weighed myself since February and refuse to do so. Last night, I had ...

Living Proof Live Lincoln

I am so late in updating again.  I put these pix on awhile back (there are a TON of them) and am just now writing.  In March, I got to see Living Proof Live in Little Rock for the first time and I absolutely loved it! I got to greet with my 2 sisters but we sure missed my other sister, Marci, who lives in NE.  A lady there suggested we go to Lincoln Living Proof and volunteer with Marci so for my 40th bday trip, we did just that! It was so much fun!!! What a fabulous weekend!! The worship was amazing and the message was GREAT!!! Shanny, Hannah, and I flew while Mom and Dad drove.  I flew Southwest for the first time. It was wonderful!! They are so nice and funny!! Funny is my love language!!! Also, you get TWO free bags if they are under 50 pounds. It's also nice because you can pick your seat! I will never fly another airline if I have a choice. YAY!! We met up with Marci!! She picked us up at the airport in Omaha. She had to drive 2 hours ...
